The quiet hum of the penthouse was the only sound in the predawn light, a gentle, distant song of the city awakening. Inside, the bedroom was a sanctuary, still steeped in the peaceful afterglow of a night of profound, unspoken surrender. The soft, luminous glow of the moon still lingered, painting the room in shades of silver and gray, but a new light, the tentative pink of the coming dawn, was beginning to seep through the tall windows.
